Grotta Paglicci contains 146 human bone remains including Gravettian burials Pa12 and Pa25. Pa12 is 12-13-year-old Cro-Magnon male, longilineo, 157-165cm tall for age, supine under red ochre with deer teeth cap. Pa25 is woman under 25 years, Cro-Magnon, robust skeleton taller than modern Europeans, supine in pit with hands on pubis under ochre and white layer. Pa25 diadem has seven forward-perforated deer teeth on coronal suture. Pa25 position suggests death in childbirth with space for missing infant. Pa12 dated 24,740 years ago, Pa25 23,000 years ago. Cro-Magnons at Paglicci have African origins, not autochthonous. Paglicci woman is evolutionary mother of Europeans colonizing ancient continent. Site yields oldest Italian domestic dog 14,000-20,000 years old. Residents processed wild oat grains into flour 32,000 years ago. Burials match Balzi Rossi and Arene Candide styles. Boy's grave has abundant lithic tools, necklace, bracelet, anklet of deer teeth and shells. Woman possibly had voluminous missing grave goods. Site spans Lower Paleolithic 200-300,000 years ago to Upper. External shelter destroyed by collapses and treasure hunters using explosives. Site now private property, unexcavated since 2005, unsafe and eroding.
