Denisova 11 bone from Denisova Cave has genome of Neanderthal mother and Denisovan father. Father from population related to later Denisovans in cave with Neanderthal ancestry. Mother from population closer to later European Neanderthals than earlier Denisova Cave Neanderthal. Neanderthals migrated between eastern and western Eurasia after 120,000 years ago. First-generation Neanderthal-Denisovan hybrid among few sequenced archaics shows mixing was common when groups met. Neanderthals and Denisovans separated over 390,000 years ago. Denisova 11 bone identified by collagen and mtDNA. Simulations confirm F1 hybrid status via allele proportions. No modern human ancestry detected in Denisova 11. Bone cortical thickness thinner than Neanderthals or Bronze Age humans.
