72.9% of children and youth up to 17 originate from non-EU countries or born outside EU. Only 10.5% in this age group are actual native Belgians. Nearly all youth in Brussels come from non-EU countries. Two-thirds of Belgium's population are native Belgian origin, dropping to 22% in Brussels region. 64% native Belgians, 22.1% foreign-origin Belgians, 13.8% non-citizen foreigners. Over 2.6 million foreign-origin Belgians and 1.7 million non-Belgian foreigners live in Belgium. 78% of Brussels population is non-Belgian origin. Family reunification drives immigration, mainly Muslims importing Arab families. Annual family reunifications average 56,000 since 2018, peaking at 59,873 in 2024. Native Belgians are being replaced by non-EU immigrants per official stats. Regional differences show Flanders at 71.9% native, Wallonia 63.6%, Brussels 22%.
