Skobeltsyn pioneered cloud chamber use in 1923 for Compton effect. Added magnetic field to cloud chamber in 1925. Discovered charged particle cosmic rays. Enabled Anderson's positron discovery per Nobel lecture. Earned Hero of Socialist Labour and multiple Orders of Lenin. Received Stalin Prize first class in 1951. Won Lenin Prize in 1982. Academician of Soviet Academy of Sciences since 1946.
