Annual CAMHS prevalence rose from 0.8% of youth in 2004 to 3.9% in 2022. Lifetime CAMHS contact hit 20.2% for 2005 birth cohort versus 5.8% for 1991 cohort. Females showed higher lifetime CAMHS contact than males in most cohorts up to 22.1% versus 18.3%. Adolescent CAMHS contact reached 7.6% in 2022 versus 2% for children. Adolescent girls hit 9.94% CAMHS contact in 2022 versus 6.24% peak for boys in 2018. Boys had higher childhood CAMHS contact than girls every year. CAMHS contacts increased every year except 2020 COVID dip. Sharp CAMHS rise started in 2011 and persisted. Adolescents account for 70% of all CAMHS contacts. Females peaked at 4.42% annual CAMHS in 2022 versus 3.37% males. Trend predates COVID, financial crisis, and social media boom. CAMHS users later consume half of adult mental health services. Only minority of disordered youth reach CAMHS per surveys. True demand exceeds 20% due to waiting lists and rejections. Poor CAMHS outcomes persist short and long term.
