Scythians occupied steppes from Danube to Altai and Caucasus including Poland. Genetic study analyzes 111 ancient genomes from Scythian and related cultures. Bronze Age steppe had homogeneous pastoralist groups. Iron Age saw influx from east west and south creating mixed gene pools. Eastern source originated in Altai mountains spreading west and south to Kazakhstan linking to Saka Tasmola and Pazyryk cultures. Western source from Ural formed coherent Sauromatian-Sarmatian pool spreading to Pontic-Caspian steppes. Findings confirm Herodotus claim of Scythians arriving from Far East. Post-Iron Age admixtures from Xiongnu Xianbei and Iranian sources coincided with Scythian decline. Scythians spread technologies like composite bows and horse saddles. Scythians influenced Greek Roman Persian and Chinese empires.
