Five Venus figurines found at Buret' in Siberia near Irkutsk. Four made of mammoth ivory, one of steatite. All dated to 21,190 BP. Discovered 1936-1940 in dwellings by Okladnikov. Geographically isolated Mal'ta-Buret' culture produced them. Feature clothes and carved faces differing from nude Paleolithic Venuses. One ivory figurine depicts shrouded person with emphasized pubic triangle and vagina. Similar shrouded figurine exists from Mal'ta. Carvings suggest decorated clothes. Partially sexually ambiguous due to absent breasts. Linked to Upper Paleolithic art and Gravettian.
