Xinjiang ancient remains show west Eurasian mtDNA U and W alongside east Eurasian A, C, D, F, G, Z, M7, M10. Male samples carry Y haplogroups C* and N1(xN1a, N1c). Di-qiang populations from Hexi Corridor moved into eastern Xinjiang. These migrants admixed with local Eurasian steppe groups. Analysis combines mtDNA, Y-DNA, and archaeology. Tianshanbeilu site in eastern Xinjiang reveals complex genetic history at East-West Eurasia crossroads. 29 of 40 samples assigned specific mtDNA haplogroups. 2 Y haplogroups identified in males.
