D1 and D2 introgressed into Papuans at 30 kya and 46 kya respectively. D1 introgression restricted to New Guinea mainland with less in Baining islanders despite shared history. WDFY2 Denisovan variant aids adipogenesis and glucose uptake. Selection signals on Denisovan genes like TNFAIP3 WDFY2 FASN FADS1 FADS2 AGL in Papuans. Papuans show excess archaic S* signal hinting unknown hominin admixture. Rampasasa near H. floresiensis site shows normal Denisovan levels. Denisovans formed three geographic branches across Asia to Oceania.
