Narmada hominid is oldest known human ancestor in Indian subcontinent. Narmada fossil lies 3000-4000km from nearest Homo erectus remains in Southeast/East Asia, Levant, Africa, Europe. Local descendants from Batadombalena, Darra-i-Kur, Kurnool caves dated 25-30kya cluster closely around Narmada site. Younger 4-10kya sites like Bhimbetka, Sarai Nahar, Mahadaha, Lothal, Dholavira also nearby. Ramapithecus nearby but excluded from human lineage. Tracing Indian human evolution shows wide spatial gap from antecedents but tight continuity with descendants. Hierarchical evolutionary relationship proposed linking Narmada to modern Indians.
