At the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow, scientists have tracked down a phenomenon previously observed only once - more than 30 years ago. In a series of measurements, they collected data confirming the existence of oscillations in the nuclei of lead 208Pb atoms involving flattening and elongation of the nucleus surface along a fixed direction.
