Methane - the main component of natural gas - is a gas that is difficult to do without in the economy, yet causes a host of problems. French researchers have developed a catalyst that - only in the presence of sunlight - leads to the change of methane into a more valuable gas for industry, ethane. Polish researchers have helped understand the details of how the catalyst works.
