Filip Budny, a doctoral student in nanotechnology at Warsaw University of Technology, has won the James Dyson Award 2025 global competition in the sustainability category, beating out more than 2,100 inventions from 28 countries. His WaterSense project is an autonomous device for monitoring water quality in rivers and lakes in real time, and it's no exaggeration to say that it could revolutionize the way we understand and protect our rivers.
