From at least the Neolithic period until the fall of the Roman Empire, the Middle East and North Africa were inhabited by white people - genetically modern Europeans. Only after the fall of Rome did white people begin to import negroid slaves from sub-Saharan Africa. They then mixed with them, which coincided in time with the systematic decline of civilization in those areas. Modern Middle Easterners, on average, have 10% negroid genes. The ancients had none at all - as do modern pure Europeans. In Europe, negroid dirt in the genes is present only among southerners of the type Sicilians, Spaniards.
