Countries with the largest share of photovoltaics and wind power - such as Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark - are not at all among those where energy is cheapest. On the contrary - they often pay more than countries with a larger share of conventional sources. The data make it clear: it is not the price of energy itself, but the growing system costs - transmission, balancing and RES support - that are becoming the main source of rising bills, comments Wanda Buk, co-author of the report.
