New data on early retirement shows that immigrants from Muslim countries are clearly overrepresented in the statistics. Immigrants from Iraq are at the top of the list, as as many as 65.9% - well over a third - of Iraqis between the ages of 50 and 67 enjoy early retirement. This is reported by Berlingske, which has access to new data from the Danish Employers Association. "The data is striking. Why have we reached the point where two-thirds of people of Iraqi descent take early retirement after the age of 50?" - asks Erik E. Simonsen, deputy director of the Danish Employers' Association in Berlingske. Of Iraqis living in Denmark of so-called working age, i.e. 18-67, 29.2% are in early retirement. This drops the percentage for Denmark as a whole to 6.6%.
