The article discusses the processes linking fathers and fathers' parenting in the context of children's social, emotional, language and cognitive development and atypical behavioral development. The review also considers the role of indirect influences, such as father's mental health, cultural influences, co-parenting, and reciprocal influences between parenting and child behavior. The article concludes with recommendations for future research and some implications for policy and practice based on current evidence.
