A genetic study of Filipinos has found high levels of inheritance of Denisovan DNA. The indigenous tribes of Ayta Magbukon and Ayta Ambala on Luzon have the most in common with the species. The discovery suggests that the Philippines was biologically diverse before the emergence of Homo sapiens.
