The article describes a new Homo erectus endocast from the Hulu cave in Nanjing, China. It compares it with a sample of H. erectus endocasts, Neanderthals and modern humans. The Nanjing 1 endocast of about 876 cc differs from Neanderthals and modern humans. Discovered in 1993, it is dated to about 0.58-0.62 million years old.
