Analysis of the genome of a woman from Bohemia, dating back more than 45,000 years, indicates that she belonged to a population that did not contribute genetically to either later Europeans or Asians. Her genome contains about 3% of Neanderthal heritage, suggesting that she was one of the earliest inhabitants of Eurasia after the expansion from Africa.
