North Africa in the Epipaleolithic: LACK of sub-Saharan genes, and genetic proximity to northern and southern Mediterranean coasts
Go to the source page
In the Epipaleolithic, North Africa was inhabited by white people, modern Europeans. Unlike the modern population living in Algeria, they DID NOT POSSESS admixtures of sub-Saharan genes. Genetic studies of ancient North African populations indicate the presence of the same haplotypes in both North Africa and Eurasia, suggesting the existence of genetic flows between the southern and northern Mediterranean for at least 20,000 years.
