Analysis of genomic data of 110 ancient individuals from the Middle East spanning the Neolithic to Bronze Age has revealed complex genetic relationships between populations. It was discovered that the people of Anatolia and the South Caucasus in the 6th millennium BC shared a common genetic ancestry. During the Late Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age, there was an exchange of genes in the northern Levant. The study also revealed a genetically distinct Late Bronze Age unit in the northern Levant.
